Traveling

Can you hear my excitement

Right now we are motoring down Interstate 15 headed South, in the same time zone as sister and family, that's a good thing folks.

So I'm gonna lay low for a few days, next time you'll hear from me will be in Southern California.

As always.................................

One more day

Dear Lord please give me one more day
One more day of getting old
One more day to watch the meadows green
Or to see the aspens turn to gold.

Just one more day to visit with friends we've met
Another day upon a mountain top
Breathing air that's fresh and sweet.
Good Lord you know I truly love this life
Although I seldom pray
And I thank you so that I've been blessed
To live it day by day.
But, if you had just one more precious day
That I could beg, steal or borrow
I'd live with appreciation, zeal and pride
Then I'd ask again tomorrow.
red scrub oak and golden aspen with a few pines mixed in

This is a portion of a poem written and
read by John Nel
son at an afternoon of Cowboy Poetry at a local book store. Too bad I couldn't get any photos but they weren't permitted. So having just recently heard this poem, Mr Doodles and I decided OK one more day.............we'll go to the mountains. Oh my word, picture this.............. a twelve mile trip up a gravel/dirt road to what is called Rainbow Lake. That gravel road is lined with sagebrush, scrub oak, those stunning golden aspen and some of the tallest pine trees we have ever seen. Around every bend on the grimy dirty road were many ooohs and aaahs, some of which I'll share with you here and on my photo blog.

We'll be packing up here and heading south in the next couple of days. We will miss the friends and the area a lot.

Please enjoy the photos I have taken while spending the day on the mountain..........oh did I tell you when we were up there on top of this mountain some 10,300 foot elevation it SNOWED!!! Now ya know why we are headed south?!?!

See SNOW!!!

A storm brewing

We woke the other morning to this grim looking sky.............then not even a half hour later was this bright, beautiful view of a very vibrant rainbow. Both these photos are straight out of the camera with no fiddling with em.

Mind if I am a bit appalled

First let me say I have never met a Carolinian I didn't like until last nite and to all the Carolinian's that I do know I still love ya bunches. Y'all have had a bad year so far with your politicians, but hey maybe it's just y'all turn.

We are all Americans, we all have free speech but not to the point of being rude, would it have been better if the camera was on him and he mouthed liar, we would have all said oh my shame on him and that was it..............but nooooooooooo the dope had to scream out loud..................My dear
Mr Wilson y'all made a big fat mistake darlin!!!

"For eight years, my taxes funded a war I opposed, which was fought under false pretenses, begun with false information and driven by false motivations. Never once did someone scream, “LIAR!” at the President of the United States during a Congressional address."Go to this blog read the whole article. I am sorry to say I am just appalled at the conduct of many adults this year. Seems President Obama has brought out the worst in a lot of y'all.

Taking charge

Now I know how the employees felt when we left them in charge of our business. If you know me then you know I have no fear especially of being in charge.

Gunnison Lakeside Resort is a beautiful place with stunning vistas, some I have shown you with photos here and on my photo blog Imagine. We love being here.

The owners, Ms P and Mr S are taking a well deserved few days off to accomplish a few needed appointments and maybe get in some relaxation.

What I fear most though is something mechanical happening that Mr or I can't handle..................keep good thoughts please

If you ever get up this way you really ought to come thru this area cause highway 50 in the United states is just beautiful..................even Tom Brokaw is doing a series on the highway.

Many of us have short memories

go google and see how many Presidents have spoken to school children..........well the only recent President that didn't was President George W. Bush.

Now don't get your knickers in a twist when I say this but the only talk W gave to school children was on 9~11 when he read My Pet Goat to a group of school children in, I think, Tampa Florida.

I'll never forget the look on that poor man's face when his chief of staff, Andrew Card walked over and whispered in his ear about the terrorist bombings in New York City. At that very moment I felt sorry for him, in spite of my many objections of the man he was still our President.

I surely hope that the address Mr Obama gives to the school children of this nation, I hope it doesn't become partisan but by golly it's looking that way. And I must really be a dope cause I'm not seeing the harm talking to children about their dreams and encouraging them to reach their goals and stay in school...................what am I missing here........................why the fear? Isn't education our most important product? It used to be!

My view

When I drive to town I see this barn.
I absolutely love old red barns. When Mr and I would drive to see his parents in Canada when we lived in Connecticut, we
would often count red barns or silos, one reason was it was a very long boring trip. Let me tell you there are a lot of red barns
and silos on the New York thruway.

I wasn't into photo taking that much back then, I should have been cause the scenery
was quite nice, with rolling hills and very pretty cows, probably milk cows cause they were all black and white. You can tell I know a lot about cattle and breeds huh! ha!!!

This dude resides on the property of the pretty red barn.

Is this guy sticking his tongue out at me.................

as always click on any photo to get a better view

Meet our new neighbors...UpDated

I received several emails from readers telling me the name of these sweet looking steers........they are called Belted Galloway. My readers are quite versed in breeds of bovine....thanks.

The most unusual looking steers I have ever seen. They have a name I just haven't found out the name of the breed yet. But they look like oddly formed yet fuzzy pigs.

These big boys may be good neighbors to us but they have neighbors that they aren't real fond of, in the same pasture are two female bison that I'll tell you more about later

Slow drivers

drive me crazy. I live with a slow driver. He does drive me crazy at times but then he is driving a Big A$$ truck and dragging our house and all our worldly goods (well not all) but certainly a lot of them. And one of his favorite boasts, Mr doesn't boast a lot, but he does tend to boast about the good fuel mileage he gets by driving at a normal speed. Anyway this sweet little guy was saved to live many more days because my man drives slow and today didn't drive me crazy.

Came around the corner and here was this sweet little guy. Heard the truck and started leaping as we crawled along not knowing which way this gut was gonna go. He finally decided to run in front of the truck and the the embankment to a pretty spot down by the Gunnison River.

They aren't the best photos I have ever taken out the window but this little creature was not about to stop and pose.

Did I tell ya

about the llama's and alpaca's that live on the outside of town on a very nice piece of property?

Well maybe I told you but didn't show you.

This is Paul and his twelve year old llama Susie. Paul takes Susie for a walk everyday and we just happened to see this guy walking his llama and had to stop. Don't see a llama being walked on a leash everyday, well at least I don't.

The reason Paul was walking Susie in this area is because of these guys

Guess they enjoy visiting with each other even though there is a fence between them. In this fenced group live two llamas and six alpacas.

Susie liked Mr Doodles

a lot it appears.

We have been invited back to visit again..........think we'll take Susie and Paul up on their invite.

An addition to my thoughts

I did mean to post this site for some health care info.......thanks sister for reminding me.............please read everything you can and don't believe all the junk you are hearing.

Wouldn't the everyday common folk be better at figuring out this health care situation than the morons in Congress. I would like to see a panel of folks like you and I along with the morons in Washington.

Terrible rumors have been flying around the internet and cable news networks. Do yourself a favor and don't believe any of those rumors, do the research your self.

Another thing is Medicare has been working fairly well and that's a government program has anyone thought of that?

Last but not least how many of the folks in Congress are on the sweet list for the insurance companies.

I did mean to post this site for some health care info.......thanks sister for reminding me.............please read everything you can and don't believe all the junk you are hearing.

a very sweet pair

This very sweet, cute pair will be making their new home to Southern California. They have to wait till the gypsy caravan finds it's way there tho.

I found these guys at a local farmers market. Nice story that made me appreciate my purchase even more.

It seems the maker of these guys, a ten year old, is raising money for a friend that needs some medical care. Yes I saw the ten year old using her own hands to make the bears. I was quite impressed with the talent as well as the cleverness of this young lady.

Here's hoping the recipients enjoy them as well.

It's the haze

Now I have shown you this view before, it's the view from our backyard. Normally the sky has puffy clouds and the Blue Mesa Lake shimmers navy blue.

Well not right now cause we got a fire going on folks. Nothing dangerous to us only to the animals that live here.

For many fires like this the very brave fire guys and gals like to let it burn, unless it gets too close to and RV resort ya see.

Normally that view has three mountain ranges .............here's hoping the fire gods
die down tonite as to not cause a panic in the park.

too much going on and not

enough time to photo and partake in the surrounding gorgeous scenery. The weather has ruined all the wildflowers. I was going to attend a photo seminar that included a one day hike with a local guy that knows photography and the area...............boo hoo weather canceled the outing................dang.

Think we'll take a day off next week and venture out on our own. Mr Doodles said I had to pay him as my tour guide since I received a refund.

Angry ramblings

Just let me rant OK?!? Now I must also say it isn't right to lump all folks together but the majority of my list have created such tremendous problems in this country I'm putting them all in the same GREEDY group. I despise greed!!!

I am very annoyed and quite angry with the following folks:

  • Wall Street...............these folks have ruined my portfolio and maybe have put a dent in yours as well.
  • Banks............now these morons are able to pay back the bailout $$$ because they have increased the interest rates on most of our (yours and mine) credit cards. So I have mailed back all my credit cards to the morons and told them to find another sucker. We still have just one card and trust me that's all we need.
  • Auto makers................were these dopes asleep when Honda and Toyota came out with their fuel saving vehicles? Was there not one person sitting around the table that suggested to compete with Hinda or Toyota...........guess not.
  • Health Insurance Companies...............now these yahoo's are really the greediest bunch (IMHO). I will share with you one story that is true but happened several years ago.
Husband and I owned our own business, had our own health insurance and even was able to offer it to employees. Well one afternoon my appendix decided to explode and I ended up in the ER, then intensive care and it goes on for about six weeks. I survived in spite of the treatment but that is not the problem. Three items stood out when I saw the itemized bill one was a ten dollar box of tissue, second item was a four dollar hairbrush that appeared on the bill twelve times and the last item really bout put me over the edge a box of tampons and a package of kotex.

Now I should tell you I had a hysterectomy years before the explosion of the appendix. OK I pick up the phone, get thru to the person handling my claim, explain that two of the items I never saw while being a guest at that hospital and yes I probably had a box of kleenex but ten dollars, come on folks.

Here's where it gets good, the claims person said "well to be honest it isn't worth fussing over". They weren't charging me they were billing the insurance company but isn't it WRONG to pay for something you never received.

Now do y'all understand why health care insurance is out of control, this is just one example and there must be thousands more.

Happy Anniversary Moon

Do you realize that Neal Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped foot on the moon forty years ago today. Why you ask would I care or even remember such an event.

Well our dear Mother had a Moon Landing party. The invitees were mostly friends from where Momma worked, one of those friends/invitees was my now husband.
Ya see sister, momma and myself all lived together three single, eligible females. Turned out this event was my first date with husband and also the first date my sister had with her now husband.

So the moon landing is a momentous event that I always seem to remember.
I still remember after watching David Brinkley and then Walter Cronkite, these two media giants so humbled by the landing and all the hoopla surrounding the event, then walking outside with Mr Doodles looking up and both of us absolutely amazed that the men we just saw on TV are on the moon we are looking at in our front yard.

The fifty year anniversary is not that far off.............................

Drink your milk

Here's what happened. A lady here at the RV resort went fishing with her husband, while walking down to the river she slipped and fell on a rock. Come to find out the two breaks that incurred were bad breaks. Her surgery was yesterday and the surgeon discovered that she has the beginnings of osteoporosis.

I am now going to nag all my female friends and readers to get thee to your Dr and ask to have a bone density test. I'm a big believer in calcium replacement as well as vitamin D and bone density tests. The test is not invasive at all, quite simple actually.

Ya know you could just google the word osteoporosis and come up with all kinds of information. I'm a member of NOF and have been for quite sometime.

This woman that had this terrible, painful accident is not old at all, maybe a few pounds overweight but certainly not obese by any means. She was quite fortunate by having the incident happen here as the surgeons handle a lot of ski accidents in the winter and they know bones. But in a wheelchair with a non walking cast none the less for about two months................ouch!!!

Just do me a favor look into this would ya please.
